अंधारात प्रकाशाचा किरण, सामाजिक रूढी मोडणाऱ्या आणि येणाऱ्या पिढ्यांसाठी प्रेरणादायी ठरणाऱ्या स्त्रीला श्रद्धांजली वाहण्यासाठी आज मी तुमच्यासमोर उभा आहे. तिचे नाव सावित्रीबाई फुले. 

 

महाराष्ट्रातील नायगाव या छोट्याशा गावात १८३१ मध्ये जन्मलेल्या सावित्रीबाई फुले यांना महानतेचे भाग्य लाभले होते. पुरुषप्रधान समाजात एक स्त्री म्हणून तिला प्रचंड प्रतिकूल परिस्थिती आणि भेदभावाचा सामना करावा लागला, परंतु तिने कधीही या अडथळ्यांना तिची व्याख्या होऊ दिली नाही. त्याऐवजी, ती त्यांच्यापेक्षा वर आली आणि लवचिकता आणि सशक्तीकरणाचे प्रतीक बनली. सावित्रीबाई फुले या केवळ समाजसुधारक नव्हत्या; ती शिक्षण क्षेत्रात अग्रेसर होती. 

 

ज्या काळात शिक्षण हा उच्चवर्णीय आणि पुरुषांचा विशेषाधिकार मानला जात होता, त्या काळात प्रत्येकाला शिकण्याचा अधिकार आहे याची खात्री करण्यासाठी तिने ते स्वतःवर घेतले. तिने पती ज्योतिराव फुले यांच्यासमवेत 1848 मध्ये पुण्यात मुलींसाठी पहिली शाळा स्थापन केली. नियमांना आव्हान देण्यासाठी आणि मुलींना शिक्षणाची दारे खुली करण्यासाठी किती धाडसी आणि धैर्याची कल्पना करा, ज्यांना अन्यथा अज्ञानाच्या जीवनात शिक्षा भोगावी लागली.

 

पण सावित्रीबाई तिथेच थांबल्या नाहीत. समाजातील उपेक्षित आणि शोषित घटकांच्या उन्नतीसाठी तिने अथक परिश्रम घेतले. जातीय भेदभाव, अस्पृश्यता आणि स्त्रियांना होणारी अपमानास्पद वागणूक याविरुद्ध त्यांनी लढा दिला. समानतेच्या कल्पनेवर तिचा ठाम विश्वास होता आणि त्यासाठी तिने अथक संघर्ष केला. तिने मेळावे आयोजित केले, शक्तिशाली साहित्य लिहिले आणि सामाजिक न्यायाचा संदेश देण्यासाठी तिला उपलब्ध असलेल्या प्रत्येक व्यासपीठाचा वापर केला.

 

 सावित्रीबाई फुले यांचे शैक्षणिक आणि सामाजिक सुधारणेच्या क्षेत्रातील योगदान अतुलनीय होते, परंतु ते मोठ्या वैयक्तिक खर्चावर आले. तिला समाजातील पुराणमतवादी गटांकडून प्रचंड प्रतिक्रिया, उपहास आणि धमक्यांचा सामना करावा लागला. तरीही, ती तिच्या विश्वासात कधीच डगमगली नाही. तिच्या वाटेवर आलेल्या असंख्य अडथळ्यांना न जुमानता तिने अविचल निर्धाराने आपले काम चालू ठेवले.

 

 आज आपण सावित्रीबाई फुले यांच्या वारशाचा विचार करत असताना आपण स्वतःला विचारले पाहिजे: आपण त्यांच्याकडून काय शिकू शकतो? तिचे जीवन हे एक स्मरणपत्र आहे की बदल शक्य आहे, अगदी वरवर अजिबात आव्हाने असतानाही. ही एक आठवण आहे की एक व्यक्ती फरक करू शकते, एक आवाज क्रांती घडवू शकतो.शिक्षण, समता आणि सामाजिक न्यायासाठी सावित्रीबाईंच्या अतूट बांधिलकीतून आपण प्रेरणा घेतली पाहिजे. आपण असा समाज निर्माण करण्याचा प्रयत्न केला पाहिजे जिथे प्रत्येक मुलाला, त्याचे लिंग किंवा सामाजिक पार्श्वभूमी काहीही असो, त्याला दर्जेदार शिक्षण मिळेल. 

 

आपण खोलवर रुजलेल्या पूर्वग्रहांना आव्हान दिले पाहिजे जे आपल्या समाजात फूट पाडत आहेत आणि अधिक सर्वसमावेशक आणि न्याय्य जग निर्माण करण्याच्या दिशेने कार्य करत आहेत. सावित्रीबाई फुले यांचे जीवन आपल्याला हे शिकवते की प्रगतीचा मार्ग सोपा नसून तो मार्ग स्वीकारण्यासारखा आहे. तिचा वारसा आपल्याला आठवण करून देतो की जे योग्य आहे त्यासाठी उभे राहण्याची, उपेक्षित आणि अत्याचारित लोकांसाठी लढण्याची आणि यथास्थितीला आव्हान देण्यापासून कधीही मागे हटण्याची आपली जबाबदारी आहे.

 

 चला तर मग, सावित्रीबाई फुले यांची न्यायी आणि समतावादी समाजाची संकल्पना पुढे नेऊन त्यांच्या स्मृतीचा आदर करूया.

Today, I stand before you to pay homage to a woman who was a beacon of light in the darkness, a trailblazer who shattered societal norms, and an inspiration to generations to come. Her name is Savitribai Phule.

Born in 1831 in the small village of Naigaon in Maharashtra, Savitribai Phule was destined for greatness. She faced tremendous adversity and discrimination as a woman in a deeply patriarchal society, but she never allowed those barriers to define her. Instead, she rose above them and became a symbol of resilience and empowerment.

Savitribai Phule was not just a social reformer; she was a pioneer in the field of education. In an era when education was considered a privilege of the upper castes and males, she took it upon herself to ensure that everyone had the right to learn. She, along with her husband Jyotirao Phule, established the first school for girls in Pune in 1848. Her life is a reminder that change is possible, even in the face of seemingly insurmountable challenges. It is a reminder that one person can make a difference, that one voice can spark a revolution.

We must draw inspiration from Savitribai's unwavering commitment to education, equality, and social justice.
